Snacks on the Go
I pack our Kelty Toto bags with an ice pack and snack cups with frozen vegetables. Frozen vegetables and fruits are the best because they are already cold, and by the time the children are ready to eat them, are defrosted. They can be eaten frozen as well which is a nice treat. My children prefer peas, green beans or mixed veggies in the Take and Toss snack cups with the half-lids so they can open and shut them easily and the lids also limit how much falls out when they drop the cup. Other snack options include, homemade granola with nuts and dried fruit, low-sugar cereal, fruit slices, chopped vegetables such as carrots, red bell peppers, and zucchini, cheese sticks, pretzels, fruit leathers, granola bars, and organic toaster pastries. If you have a bottle fed child, make sure and bring extra formula, water, and an empty bottle or two in addition to what they normally drink, just in case you are out longer than you expected.
