Phil and Ted's Sport Double Buggy = Best Buggy Ever
This is the stroller all mothers of multiple aged children should have. The buggy is a jogging type stroller with air filled wheels, the front one swivels or locks which makes for simpler steering depending on if you are walking the neighborhood or running a race. It can hold two children in the space of a single jogger which is a huge plus if you have ever tried to drive the Graco DuoGlider or the Joovy Big Caboose. The folding mechanism is quick, easy and folds compactly. I can fold the buggy quickly and then place it in the minivan trunk while holding our newborn in one arm. Did I mention that it actually fits in the minivan trunk? Half of the trunk to be exact, it just stands right there in the back leaving room for groceries on the other side. If the doubles seat is in the top position, you can leave it on during folding, which is a breeze.
The functionality of the double seat is amazing. There are 2 different positions in which you can easily place the second seat in order to accommodate a sleeping newborn or a sitting baby along with your toddler. I was worried about the child in the back being bored as they can’t see in front of them but my older two children fight to be in the lower back seat. Also, I have been known to break the rules and use the back seat as a cart in the grocery store. phil&teds actually tell you not to use the second seat as a basket, but it does hold a bunch of groceries while your child sits in the clean stroller seat in the front.
The buggy is not perfect, but it has completed my quest to find the best buggy. There is no brake on the handle, which is probably the reason phil&teds say don’t run with the buggy. It also makes it hard if you need to stop the buggy on the hill. It does have a foot brake which locks the back two wheels completely but a hand brake is easier. It is made in New Zealand so accessories are harder to come by, as well as support for when the screw falls out of the handle and you can‘t seem to find it...
The phil&teds Sport Double Buggy is expensive, ranging from $399-499 USD. Even though the Phil and Ted‘s price tag is high, I would gladly shell out the money again for this functional buggy.
